Project description
On the east side of the Olympic Hall, a new event venue called "Small Olympic Hall" will be built for 4.000 visitors. The building site lies within the Olympic Park, which is listed as a monument in its entirety. In order not to compromise the listed ensemble of Olympic buildings and due to its large volume, the hall will be built below ground. Without impacting the view from the Mittlerer Ring road, it is located beneath a "shoal" landscaped to connect the embankments of Lillian-Board-Weg and Luz-Long-Ufer, which makes it possible to illuminate the hall by daylight. Access is via a conical cutting in the land between the two roads and between the hall and the foyer, so that the cutting acts both as a connecting road and as an entrance area. The hall has standing room for 4.000 guests. The foyer has standing room for 600. The new hall will be a reinforced concrete construction. Parts of it will have exposed concrete quality.
