Project description
The eastern edge of the historical Wilhelma park was redesigned when Pragstrasse was widened. The plan was to upgrade the historical park by a perimeter development along Pragstrasse while integrating the historical buildings and the footpath system designed by Zanth. The park is separated from Pragstrasse by a wall set back by a green verge and a row of poplars. The new big plant house respects the routing of the historical pathway and forms the counterpart of the orangery and the greenhouses on the opposite side of the park. The maximum height is 13 m, high enough to create the impression of a rainforest with its characteristic vegetation. The goal of the interior design is to create a sense of spaciousness by allowing adequate space between the plant beds, the cages for various animals as well as a stream and several terrariums.
