  With its inner city location close to the Stadtgarten and the Lindenmuseum, the supply building of the Katharinenhospital stands at the interface between different usages and structures. The design makes use of Stuttgart's typical topography. The existing level difference in the grounds makes it possible to provide level access to several storeys. The concept was to design the different functional areas such as central pharmacy, central meal supply, nursing school and creche as horizontal layers organically developing in line with the grounds. Separate buildings define the open spaces at the highest topographic level. The Lindenmuseum is respected as the dominant building of the neighbourhood between Hegelstrasse, Herdweg and Sattlerstrasse. In order to keep the options open for a future extension, no development has been constructed on the boundary with the museum. Hegelstrasse and the end of Rosenbergstrasse have been given structures which round off the development both towards Stadtgarten with its stand-alone buildings and to the near-by Hoppenlau cemetery.
