Project description
The Centre for the Molecular Biology of Plants is currently housed in 4 different university buildings. The internal organisation of the Centre with its 16 independent research groups each making use of the highly specialised central service units requires a lot of coordination work. Pooling them in a single new building not only creates a realistic basis for a functioning overall network, it also promotes intense scientific communication between the research groups. By choosing the Morgenstelle plot to the south of the auditorium centre, the intention is to fully benefit from the location at the heart of a highly scientific campus area. Central facilities such as the workshops and the isotopic lab as well as a pool of teaching rooms can be shared. The prominent position of the new building on the new campus square enhances the architectural design while at the same time underlining the scientific importance of the Centre. In a second construction phase, the Interdisciplinary Institute for Biochemistry is to be built on the Morgenstelle plot next to the Centre.
